Bible version
Babylonian Captivity of Judah
Commentary
In 2 Kings 24, we see the consequences of the sins of the kings of Judah. The chapter begins with the reign of Jehoiakim, who was a wicked king who did not follow the Lord. He was followed by his son Jehoiachin, who was even worse. The Lord was so angry with the people of Judah that He allowed the Babylonians to come and take them into captivity. This was a punishment for their disobedience and idolatry. The chapter ends with the reign of Zedekiah, who was the last king of Judah. He was also wicked and disobedient, and the Lord allowed the Babylonians to come and take him into captivity as well. This was a sign of God's judgment on the people of Judah for their sins. The chapter serves as a warning to us today. We must be careful to obey the Lord and not turn away from Him. If we do, we will suffer the same consequences as the people of Judah. We must remember that God is a just and righteous God, and He will not tolerate disobedience.
