Jehoiakim was known for his oppressive rule, and for his rebellion against the Babylonians. According to the book of Jeremiah, he burned the prophet's scroll when it was read to him, and was eventually captured by the Babylonians and taken to Babylon, where he died. Despite his actions, Jehoiakim is not considered a major figure in the Bible and is not mentioned in many other books besides Jeremiah.
