Commentary
2 Chronicles 24 is a chapter that speaks of the reign of King Joash of Judah. It begins with a description of how Joash was only seven years old when he began to reign, and how he was supported by the priest Jehoiada. Jehoiada was instrumental in helping Joash to do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He helped Joash to repair the temple and to restore the worship of the Lord. The chapter then goes on to describe how Joash was successful in his reign and how he was able to defeat the enemies of Judah. He was also able to restore the temple and to bring back the worship of the Lord. However, despite his successes, Joash eventually turned away from the Lord and began to worship idols. This led to the Lord's anger and punishment of Judah. The chapter ends with a description of how Joash was eventually killed by his own servants. This serves as a reminder of the consequences of turning away from the Lord and of the importance of remaining faithful to Him. It also serves as a warning to all who would seek to follow in Joash's footsteps. We must remain faithful to the Lord and obey His commands if we are to experience His blessings.
