Deuteronomy 2 is a continuation of Moses’ address to the Israelites as they prepare to enter the Promised Land. In this chapter, Moses recounts the journey of the Israelites from Mount Sinai to the border of the Promised Land. He reminds them of the Lord’s faithfulness in providing for them during their journey, and of the Lord’s command to not attack the nations they encountered along the way. Moses also reminds the Israelites of the Lord’s promise to give them the land of the Amorites, and of the Lord’s command to not be afraid of them. He then recounts the Lord’s command to not make a covenant with the Amorites, and to not intermarry with them. Moses then recounts the Lord’s command to not fear the nations of the Transjordan, and to not make a covenant with them.
