Gedaliah

Gedaliah was a biblical figure who served as the governor of Judah during the Babylonian captivity. He was the son of Ahikam and the grandson of Shaphan, a scribe in the court of King Josiah. Gedaliah was appointed by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to be the governor of Judah after the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem. He was tasked with rebuilding the city and restoring the people of Judah to their homeland. Gedaliah was known for his kindness and generosity towards the people of Judah. Ishmael was jealous of Gedaliah's power and wanted to take control of Judah. Gedaliah's death caused a great deal of grief among the people of Judah and led to the Babylonian exile of many of them.
