Balaam's Blessing

1 וירא בלעם, כי טוב בעיני יהוה לברך את-ישראל, ולא-הלך כפעם-בפעם, לקראת נחשים; וישת אל-המדבר, פניו.

2 ויישא בלעם את-עיניו, וירא את-ישראל, שוכן, לשבטיו; ותהי עליו, רוח אלוהים.

3 ויישא משלו, ויאמר: נאום בלעם בנו בעור, ונאום הגבר שתום העין.

4 נאום--שומע, אמרי-אל: אשר מחזה שדיי יחזה, נופל וגלוי עיניים.

5 מה-טובו אוהליך, יעקוב; משכנותיך, ישראל.

6 כנחלים ניטיו, כגנות עלי נהר; כאהלים נטע יהוה, כארזים עלי-מים.

7 ייזל-מים מדולייו, וזרעו במים רבים; וירום מאגג מלכו, ותינשא מלכותו.

8 אל מוציאו ממצריים, כתועפות ראם לו; יאכל גויים צריו, ועצמותיהם יגרם--וחיציו ימחץ.

9 כרע שכב כארי וכלביא, מי יקימנו; מברכיך ברוך, ואורריך ארור.

10 וייחר-אף בלק אל-בלעם, ויספוק את-כפיו; ויאמר בלק אל-בלעם, לקוב אויביי קראתיך, והנה בירכת ברך, זה שלוש פעמים.

11 ועתה, ברח-לך אל-מקומך; אמרתי כבד אכבדך, והנה מנעך יהוה מכבוד.

12 ויאמר בלעם, אל-בלק: הלוא, גם אל-מלאכיך אשר-שלחת אליי--דיברתי לאמור.

13 אם-ייתן-לי בלק מלוא ביתו, כסף וזהב--לא אוכל לעבור את-פי יהוה, לעשות טובה או רעה מליבי: אשר-ידבר יהוה, אותו אדבר.

14 ועתה, הנני הולך לעמי; לכה, איעצך, אשר יעשה העם הזה לעמך, באחרית הימים.

15 ויישא משלו, ויאמר: נאום בלעם בנו בעור, ונאום הגבר שתום העין.

16 נאום, שומע אמרי-אל, ויודע, דעת עליון; מחזה שדיי יחזה, נופל וגלוי עיניים.

17 אראנו ולא עתה, אשורנו ולא קרוב; דרך כוכב מיעקוב, וקם שבט מישראל, ומחץ פאתי מואב, וקרקר כל-בני-שת.

18 והיה אדום ירשה, והיה ירשה שעיר--אויביו; וישראל, עושה חיל.

19 ויירד, מיעקוב; והאביד שריד, מעיר.

20 וירא, את-עמלק, ויישא משלו, ויאמר: ראשית גויים עמלק, ואחריתו עדי אובד.

21 וירא, את-הקיני, ויישא משלו, ויאמר: איתן, מושבך, ושים בסלע, קינך.

22 כי אם-יהיה, לבער קין--עד-מה, אשור תשבך.

23 ויישא משלו, ויאמר: אוי, מי יחיה משומו אל.

24 וצים מיד כיתים, ועינו אשור ועינו-עבר; וגם-הוא, עדי אובד.

25 ויקם בלעם, וילך וישב למקומו; וגם-בלק, הלך לדרכו. {פ}

In Numbers 24, the Lord speaks to Balaam through a vision, commanding him to bless the Israelites instead of cursing them as Balak had requested. Balaam responds to the Lord's command by blessing the Israelites with a prophetic blessing.
