Bible version
פַּרשָׁנוּת
Judges chapter 2 is a continuation of the story of the Israelites’ conquest of the Promised Land. In this chapter, the Angel of the Lord appears to the Israelites and tells them that they have failed to keep their covenant with God. He explains that they have not driven out the inhabitants of the land as they were commanded to do, and that as a result, the people of the land will be a snare and a temptation to them. The Angel of the Lord then warns the Israelites that if they do not obey God’s commands, they will be punished. The Israelites respond to the Angel of the Lord’s warning by weeping and confessing their sins. The Angel of the Lord then tells them that he will not drive out the inhabitants of the land, but that they will remain as a reminder of their disobedience. He also tells them that they will be oppressed by the people of the land, and that they will serve their gods. The chapter ends with the Israelites’ response to the Angel of the Lord’s warning. They agree to obey God’s commands and to serve Him faithfully. This chapter serves as a reminder to the Israelites of the importance of obedience to God’s commands. It also serves as a warning to all readers of the consequences of disobedience.
