In 2 Chronicles 23, we read about the reforms of King Joash of Judah. After being crowned king at the age of seven, Joash was guided by the priest Jehoiada to restore the worship of the Lord in Judah. Jehoiada had the temple repaired and the priests and Levites were re-instated to their positions. He also had the idols and altars of false gods destroyed and the people of Judah were commanded to worship only the Lord. The reforms of Joash were successful and the people of Judah followed the commands of the Lord. Joash also had the temple treasury filled with offerings from the people and the priests and Levites were given their due wages. Joash was a faithful king and he was rewarded for his obedience to the Lord. This chapter of 2 Chronicles is a reminder of the importance of following the Lord and obeying His commands. It also shows us the blessings that come from being faithful to God. Joash was a great example of a king who followed the Lord and was rewarded for his obedience.
