Commentary

The theme of trust in God is prominent throughout the Book of Psalms, and Psalm 27 is no exception. David's confidence in God is unwavering, even in the face of his enemies. He declares that the Lord is his light and salvation and acknowledges that God is his fortress, the One who keeps him safe. David also longs for the presence of God and delights in spending time with Him. He says, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple." This psalm reminds us that no matter what challenges we face, we can still find refuge in God. He is our light in the darkness and our salvation in times of trouble. And like David, we can find joy and delight in His presence as we seek Him wholeheartedly.
