In Philippians 2, Paul encourages the church to live in unity and humility. He begins by reminding them of the example of Jesus, who humbled himself and became obedient to death on the cross. Paul encourages the church to have the same attitude of humility and obedience that Jesus had. He also encourages them to be unified in their love for one another, and to be of the same mind and purpose. Paul then goes on to encourage the church to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. He reminds them that God is at work in them, and that they should be obedient to Him. He also encourages them to do all things without grumbling or arguing, so that they may be blameless and pure. Finally, Paul encourages the church to shine as lights in the world, and to hold fast to the word of life. He reminds them that they have been called to be a witness to the world, and that they should live in a manner worthy of the gospel.
