Aaron's Rod Budded
פַּרשָׁנוּת
In Numbers 17, we see the Lord instructing Moses to take twelve rods, one from each of the twelve tribes of Israel, and place them in the tabernacle. The Lord then tells Moses to write the name of each tribe on their respective rod and lay them in the tabernacle. On the following day, Moses is to bring out the rods and the rod of the tribe of Levi will have budded, blossomed, and produced almonds. This is a sign from the Lord that the tribe of Levi is to be chosen to serve Him in the tabernacle. This chapter is a reminder of the importance of obedience to the Lord. The Lord had instructed Moses to take the rods and place them in the tabernacle, and Moses obeyed. The Lord then rewarded Moses for his obedience by choosing the tribe of Levi to serve Him in the tabernacle. This is a reminder to us that when we obey the Lord, He will reward us for our obedience. We should strive to be obedient to the Lord in all that we do, knowing that He will reward us for our obedience.
