The Conquest of Southern Canaan
Commentary
Joshua 10 is a chapter that recounts the miraculous victory of the Israelites over the five Amorite kings. After the Gibeonites had made a covenant with Joshua, the five Amorite kings had come to attack them. In response, Joshua and the Israelites marched out to battle against them. The Lord then intervened on behalf of the Israelites, sending a great hailstorm that killed more of the enemy than the Israelites did. This miraculous victory was a sign of God's favor and protection of His people. The chapter ends with Joshua and the Israelites returning to their camp in Gilgal, where they celebrated their victory with a great feast. This victory was a reminder to the Israelites of God's power and faithfulness to His people. It was also a reminder of the importance of trusting in the Lord and relying on His strength in times of difficulty. This chapter is a great reminder to us today that God is always with us and will never leave us. He is our protector and our strength in times of trouble. We can trust in Him and rely on His power to bring us through any situation.
