Hosea 7 is a chapter that speaks to the consequences of Israel’s unfaithfulness to God. The prophet Hosea speaks of the nation’s sin and how it has caused them to be consumed by their own wickedness. He speaks of how they have become like an oven that is heated up and then quickly cooled off, and how their leaders have become like a morning cloud that quickly disappears. He speaks of how they have become like a cake that is half-baked, and how their kings have become like a reed that is easily broken. Hosea also speaks of how the people of Israel have become like a dove that is easily deceived and how their prophets have become like a roaring lion that is easily silenced. He speaks of how they have become like a silly bird that is easily caught and how their priests have become like a fox that is easily trapped. He speaks of how they have become like a snare that is easily broken and how their rulers have become like a thornbush that is easily uprooted.
