Exodus chapter 2 is the story of Moses' birth and his rescue from the Nile River. It begins with the birth of Moses to Amram and Jochebed, who were of the tribe of Levi. Pharaoh had commanded that all male Hebrew children be thrown into the Nile, so Jochebed placed Moses in a basket and set him afloat in the river. Pharaoh's daughter found the basket and took Moses in as her own son. Moses was raised in Pharaoh's palace and was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. However, when he was grown, he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew and he killed the Egyptian. Fearing for his life, Moses fled to Midian, where he married Zipporah and had two sons. The Lord then appeared to Moses in a burning bush and told him to go back to Egypt and lead the Hebrews out of slavery. Moses was hesitant, but God gave him the power to perform miracles and convinced him to go. Exodus chapter 2 is an important part of the Bible because it shows how God can use even the most unlikely of people to accomplish His will. It also shows how God can use difficult circumstances to bring about His plans. Moses was a Hebrew, yet he was raised in Pharaoh's palace and was given the power to lead the Hebrews out of slavery. This is a powerful reminder that God can use anyone to accomplish His will.
