Commentary

Esther 3 is a pivotal chapter in the book of Esther, as it marks the beginning of the plot to exterminate the Jews. The chapter opens with the introduction of Haman, a powerful and influential figure in the Persian court. He is so despised by the Jews that they refuse to bow down to him, which enrages him.
