Commentary

Ephesians 5 is a powerful chapter that speaks to the importance of living a life of holiness and righteousness. Paul begins by reminding us that we are to be imitators of God, and that we should walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us. He then goes on to warn us against the works of darkness, and encourages us to instead live in the light. He also speaks of the importance of being filled with the Spirit, and of singing and making music in our hearts to the Lord. Paul then goes on to speak of the importance of marriage, and how husbands and wives should love and respect one another. He also speaks of the importance of being wise and understanding, and of being filled with the Spirit. He then speaks of the importance of being filled with the Spirit in order to be able to discern what is good and what is evil. Finally, Paul speaks of the importance of being thankful and of giving thanks in all circumstances. He reminds us that we are to be filled with the Spirit, and that we are to be thankful for all that God has done for us.
