Commentary

Deuteronomy 31 is a chapter that speaks to the importance of obedience to God's commands. In this chapter, Moses is preparing to pass the mantle of leadership to Joshua, and he is giving him instructions on how to lead the people of Israel. He tells Joshua to be strong and courageous, and to obey all of God's commands. He also tells him to read the law to the people every seven years, so that they can remember and obey it. Moses also warns Joshua that if the people do not obey God's commands, they will be punished. He tells him that God will not be with them if they disobey, and that they will be defeated by their enemies. He also warns that if they do not obey, they will be cursed and their land will be destroyed. The chapter ends with Moses blessing the people and telling them to be strong and courageous. He tells them that God will be with them and will never leave them. This chapter is a reminder to us that obedience to God's commands is essential for our success. We must be willing to follow God's instructions, even when it is difficult, in order to receive His blessings. We must also remember that disobedience will bring consequences, and that God will not be with us if we do not obey Him.
