Commentary

In 2 Peter 3, the Apostle Peter continues to warn his readers of the dangers of false teachers and their teachings. He begins by reminding them of the promise of the Lord’s return, and that they should be patient and wait for it. He then goes on to warn them of the scoffers who will come and mock the promise of the Lord’s return. He encourages them to remain steadfast in their faith and not be swayed by the false teachings of these scoffers. Peter then goes on to explain the importance of living a holy life, and how it is necessary for them to be prepared for the Lord’s return. He reminds them that the Lord is patient and slow to anger, but that He will eventually come and judge the world. He encourages them to be diligent in their faith and to live a life of holiness. Finally, Peter encourages his readers to remember the words of the prophets and to be mindful of the Lord’s promises.
