2 Chronicles, 25
Bible version
Commentary
In 2 Chronicles 25, we read about the reign of King Amaziah of Judah. Amaziah was a righteous king who followed the Lord and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He was a strong leader who was able to defeat the Edomites and bring them under his control. He also removed the idols from the land and destroyed them. However, despite his good intentions, Amaziah was not without fault. He was too proud and relied too heavily on his own strength. He hired mercenaries from Israel to fight against the Edomites, which was against the Lord's command. As a result, God sent a prophet to warn Amaziah of the consequences of his actions. Amaziah did not heed the warning and was eventually defeated by the Israelites. He was taken captive and his kingdom was taken away from him. This serves as a reminder to us that we should always seek the Lord's guidance and not rely on our own strength. We should also remember that pride comes before a fall.
