Bible version
Commentary
In 1 Timothy 4, Paul is continuing to instruct Timothy on how to lead the church in Ephesus. He begins by warning Timothy of the false teachings that will come from within the church, and encourages him to remain steadfast in his faith. He then goes on to encourage Timothy to be an example of godliness to the church, and to teach the members to be devoted to prayer and to the reading of Scripture. Paul also encourages Timothy to be mindful of his own health, and to take care of his body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Paul then goes on to encourage Timothy to be an example of godliness to the younger members of the church, and to train them in the ways of the Lord. He also encourages Timothy to be diligent in his work, and to be an example of hard work and dedication to the church. Finally, Paul encourages Timothy to be mindful of his own spiritual growth, and to be devoted to the Lord in all things. Overall, Paul is encouraging Timothy to be a leader in the church, and to be an example of godliness and faithfulness to the members. He is also reminding Timothy to be mindful of his own spiritual growth, and to be devoted to the Lord in all things.
